About the SquamLoon
SquamLoon has been my handle on the internet since my Microsoft editing days many years ago, when I lived in Seattle and was nostalgic for the loon calls at my family home on Squam Lake.
Several summers ago, after moving back to the Squam area, I was walking across a tiny island on Squam, and nearly stumbled right into my now-avatar loon’s nest.
I harbor a slight bit of guilt around the taking of this picture: it’s bad form to get close to a nesting loon. But the camera was right at hand.
Oh—and purple’s my favorite color, so I purplized it.
